The BRIEF
Brand identity implementation & web design
Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries, a renowned childcare provider in the UK, embarked on a transformative journey to update its brand identity. Already in possession of a freshly developed brand identity by an external agency, Monkey Puzzle aimed to integrate this new vision across all touchpoints. As a seasoned brand designer, I joined their marketing team with the central task of facilitating the transition to a fresh and modern brand image. Collaborating closely with Monkey Puzzle’s head office and franchisees, our mission was to revamp all aspects of the brand, spanning print and digital assets to environmental and website design.

The CHALLENGE
Rebranding more than 70 day nurseries nationwide presented a formidable challenge. With an optimistic deadline of one year, the extensive workload demanded a strategic approach and perfect coordination across multiple teams. Our efforts were intensified by the necessity to keep operations running smoothly throughout the transition, which demanded close collaboration from all stakeholders, including head office and franchisees.

STRATEGY AND APPROACH
Handling the challenges of nationwide rebranding alongside ongoing marketing campaigns required a well-thought-out strategy. To revamp the nurseries, we crafted a detailed plan, conducting tailored meetings, site evaluations, and design presentations for each location. This involved updating external signage and making internal adjustments as needed, as well as refreshing printed materials like brochures and stationery.
Internally, I took the lead in redesigning assets, working with different teams to ensure consistency with the new brand identity. We established a centralised resource hub for easy access to materials and developed brand guidelines for head office.
Simultaneously, updating Monkey Puzzle’s website demanded a careful approach to user experience and design. Using my expertise in UI/UX design and Adobe XD, I led workshops to identify areas for improvement and streamline the user journey. Our iterative process, from initial wireframing to final designs, ensured a smooth transition to our partner marketing agency for development, resulting in an online presence that complemented the refreshed brand identity.













RESULT
Combining strategic planning, collaborative efforts, and a dedication to excellence, Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries successfully executed a comprehensive rebranding, breathing new life into its identity while maintaining its commitment to outstanding childcare services. This resulted in significant growth across key metrics post-rebranding, signalling a successful transformation of its brand identity. The website experienced a remarkable 23% increase in year-on-year web traffic, with visitors exploring the updated offerings, translating into tangible outcomes with the network receiving a 336% increase in enquiries. These results underscore the impactful contribution of our collaborative efforts, leading Monkey Puzzle’s growth and solidifying its position as a leading childcare provider in the UK.
